MCG 7030

Terminal operators, safety managers, compliance officers, and operations leaders require reliable visibility into alarm conditions across tank farms and industrial storage facilities.

The MCG 7030 Touch Panel Alarm Monitor provides a centralized and scalable platform for monitoring tank alarms in real time. The system supports up to 128 alarm probes on a single 4-wire multiplexed data highway, or up to 48 individually wired probes in controller mode.

The monitor is compatible with both MCG 1090 Level Alarm Probes (wired) and MCG 1095 Wireless Alarm Probes, allowing facilities to combine wired and wireless alarm technologies within a single monitoring system.

Unlike traditional annunciator panels, the MCG 7030 functions as a remote data acquisition platform, consolidating alarm status, diagnostics, self-test results, and historical alarm records into a single touchscreen interface.

Multiple communication ports allow the monitor to integrate with tank gauging systems, SCADA platforms, and host control systems. An optional encrypted wireless link can also support independent high-level alarm systems in remote or hazardous environments.

The result is a safety-focused, compliance-ready alarm monitoring system that improves response time, simplifies wiring infrastructure, and strengthens operational visibility across entire storage facilities.

Details

The MCG 7030 collects and displays alarm data from connected probes and provides operators with a clear, centralized view of tank alarm status.

By consolidating multiple alarm inputs into a single interface, the monitor simplifies alarm management across large tank farms while maintaining the redundancy and verification required for safety-critical storage systems.

The system supports both wired and wireless probes, allowing flexible installation options for new facilities, retrofits, and remote installations.

Integrated diagnostics and alarm history features help operators investigate alarm conditions, track system performance, and maintain compliance documentation.

Applications

  • Fixed-Roof Storage Terminals: Monitors high-level, high-high, or overflow alarms to prevent spills, environmental violations, and operational shutdowns.
  • Regulated Chemical and Fuel Storage: Provides certified alarm monitoring and detailed alarm history to support EPA, API, and state fire-code compliance requirements.
  • Remote or Unmanned Sites: Centralizes alarm monitoring into SCADA systems, allowing remote facilities to maintain continuous oversight without onsite staff.
  • Mixed Probe Environments: Supports facilities using both wired and wireless alarm probes, reducing spare parts complexity and simplifying maintenance.
  • High-Reliability Alarm Systems: Supports redundant and self-checking alarm architectures for installations that require independent safety verification layers.

How does the MCG 7030 support both wired and wireless probes?

The MCG 7030 is a versatile platform. It communicates with wired probes (like the MCG 1090) directly through a single, 4-wire data highway (multiplexing). For wireless integration, it communicates securely with the MCG 1095 Wireless Alarm Probes, allowing operators to leverage both technologies simultaneously within the same monitoring system.

Why is a single 4-wire data highway beneficial for large tank farms?

+

The single 4-wire highway significantly reduces the amount of wiring needed compared to running individual wires for every alarm probe. This multiplexing capability cuts down installation costs, simplifies troubleshooting, and makes the system highly scalable for large tank farms (up to 128 probes).

Does the MCG 7030 support true self-testing of alarm probes?

+

When the MCG 7030 is paired with L&J’s compatible self-testing probes (like the MCG 1095), it utilizes the probe’s true mechanical self-check feature. The monitor initiates and logs the results of these physical tests, ensuring that the entire alarm system, not just the electronics, is fully functional and compliant.

Can the system integrate with existing SCADA or tank gauging platforms?

+

Absolutely. Multiple communication ports and standard protocols allow the 7030 to feed alarm data, diagnostics, and event history directly into existing host systems.

What wireless security protections are included?

+

The optional wireless link uses encrypted, frequency-hopping spread-spectrum communication to prevent interference and ensure secure, reliable alarm transmission.
