Terminal operators, field engineers, plant supervisors, inventory managers, and safety officers often require safe, ground-level access to tank gauge data, configuration settings, and calibration tools.
The evo 1650 Smart Core Display provides an intrinsically safe interface for interacting with Cognesense radar and servo tank gauging systems. It enables operators and technicians to access tank data, configure instrumentation, and perform diagnostics without climbing tanks or opening explosion-proof enclosures.
Unlike conventional remote indicators, the evo 1650 integrates directly with evo 1610 radar gauges and MCG servo gauges, providing local display a graphical LCD interface, infrared configuration using the MCG 2150 Remote Calibrator, broad protocol support, and diagnostic tools. This combination simplifies commissioning, calibration, and troubleshooting while improving safety and efficiency.
Designed as a microprocessor-based smart terminal, the evo 1650 supports RTD temperature inputs, 4–20 mA analog signals, discrete I/O, and Tankway, HART, Modbus, and RS-485 communications.
With a rugged NEMA 4X / IP65 enclosure and global hazardous-area certifications, the device delivers long-term reliability in refineries, storage terminals, chemical plants, and industrial tank farms.
Enables configuration, calibration, and live data viewing without climbing tanks or opening enclosures, significantly reducing exposure to hazardous heights and confined spaces.
Allows safe, non-intrusive setup using the MCG 2150 handheld calibrator, maintaining enclosure integrity and hazardous-area compliance during commissioning.
Integrates seamlessly with Tankway, HART, Modbus, and RS-485 systems, ensuring compatibility across legacy and modern DCS/PLC architectures.
NEMA 4X/IP65 housing with stainless hardware provides long-term resistance to weather, corrosion, and industrial contaminants in harsh operating conditions.
Supports evo radar gauges, MCG servo gauges, and associated RTDs or analog inputs, enabling unified measurement and control at the tank.
Certified for FM, CSA, ATEX, and IECEx hazardous locations.

This eliminates the need for technicians to climb tanks or open explosion-proof housings, which are major safety risks in hazardous industrial environments.
Yes. The MCG 1650 Smart Core Display is designed for maximum compatibility and can interface directly with L&J’s entire evo Radar Series and MCG Servo Gauges. This universal compatibility reduces the number of spare parts and training required for your field personnel.
The display supports all common industrial protocols, including L&J Tankway, HART, and Modbus RS-485. This multi-protocol capability ensures that the data collected at the ground-level interface can be easily connected and communicated to your central DCS or inventory management system.
Yes. It has FM/CSA, ATEX, and IECEx certifications for operation in Class I, Div. 1 hazardous areas.
Yes. Its protocol flexibility and analog/digital I/O allow drop-in modernization of older L&J or third-party systems.
Yes. With the MCG 2150 calibrator, operators perform full configuration and calibration wirelessly without opening enclosures.
Yes, Smart Flash enables firmware updates “on the fly” without removing power or disconnecting the device.
Level, temperature, alarms, density (via paired gauge), discrete I/O status, and full diagnostic data depending on system configuration.
With over a century of precision measurement heritage, Cognesense continues to lead in tank-farm automation innovation. The MCG 1650 Smart Core Display delivers a combination of safety, simplicity, and connectivity — allowing operators to configure, calibrate, and monitor their entire tank system from ground level with confidence.
