The MCG 2000MAX Float and Tape Transmitter provides accurate, reliable tank level data that integrates easily with control and inventory systems. Designed for terminal operators, plant engineers, maintenance technicians, and EPC project teams, it delivers continuous digital measurement with magnetic precision and high reliability.
Unlike traditional float or mechanical transmitters that may lose calibration or drift after power interruptions, the MCG 2000MAX uses patented Absolute Magnetic Encoding technology to retain the correct tank level even after outages or resets. No recalibration is required.
Its two-wire loop-powered design, infrared calibration capability, guided setup, and support for multiple communication protocols make installation, configuration, and integration straightforward for both new installations and retrofit projects.
With ATEX and IECEx certifications, ultra-low power consumption, and measurement precision up to 1/64 inch (0.4 mm), the MCG 2000MAX provides a safe, maintenance-free, and globally compliant solution for modern tank gauging systems.
Magnetic encoding ensures level data is retained after power loss, preventing drift, recalibration needs, or measurement reset errors.
Standard 1/32″ (0.8 mm) resolution supports precise inventory control, with optional 1/64″ resolution for custody-grade applications.
Up to 128 ft capability covers tall storage tanks, enabling accurate monitoring across petroleum, chemical, and industrial vessels.
Direct coupling to Varec and S&J mechanical gauges reduces installation effort, enabling modernization without tank shutdowns.
Consumes less than 0.04 W, ideal for 2-wire loop-powered systems requiring efficient, low-maintenance long-term operation.
UL, ATEX, and IECEx approvals support deployment in global classified areas, ensuring safe and compliant field operation.
MCG 2000 MAX interfaces with any float and tape gauge, including the Varec 2500, S&J 92021, and similar gauges, to deliver electronic level, temperature, and optional alarm data.

Unlike older optical or incremental encoders that lose their position after a power interruption, Absolute Magnetic Encoding uses a series of permanent magnets to uniquely identify the exact position of the float at all times. When power is restored, the transmitter instantly reads the absolute position without needing to search or re-reference, guaranteeing true, continuous measurement and eliminating the need for recalibration.
Yes. It directly couples to Varec 2500, Shand & Jurs 92021, and other standard mechanical gauges — ideal for upgrading without downtime.
Absolutely. It’s certified to UL, ATEX, IECEx, and CE standards for use in explosive or corrosive areas.
Calibration and setup are done via infrared handheld and LCD interface — no need to open enclosures or access the tank top.
The MCG 2000MAX’s Absolute Magnetic Encoding ensures the level position is retained — it automatically restores the correct value on power-up.
It supports 4–20 mA analog, L&J Tankway, and HART (with others available), allowing flexible integration into any control system.
It allows firmware updates and diagnostics without batteries or EEPROMs — reducing maintenance costs and extending service life.
The MCG 2000MAX Level Transmitter delivers reliable, continuous tank level measurement using magnetic absolute encoding that retains data through power loss without recalibration. With 1/32-inch standard accuracy, ultra-low 0.04 W power consumption, and hazardous-area approvals, the MCG 2000MAX provides Cognesense’s proven measurement performance for petroleum, chemical, and industrial storage applications.
