The 2520 ATG is a mechanically operated float & tape instrument designed for high-pressure bulk storage applications. It provides continuous level indication at the tank side via a dial and counter, meeting API Chapter 3.1B requirements for inventory control with accuracy up to 0.2 in (4 mm). A magnetic drive mechanism isolates the indicating components from tank pressure, preventing vapor escape and protecting the mechanism in pressurized service. Installation kits support mounting on the tank roof or at grade for ground-level reading, and the optional 2920 Float & Tape Transmitter adds electronic data and temperature integration to the control room.
Power-free, pressure-rated operation. Mechanical float & tape operation delivers continuous level measurement on pressurized vessels without requiring electrical power at the gauge head – including during outages.
Inventory-grade accuracy. Up to 0.2 in (4 mm) per API Chapter 3.1B in high-pressure service.
Magnetic drive safety isolation. The magnetic drive isolates the dial/counter from process pressure, preventing vapor escape and mechanical damage – a critical safety feature on LPG, propane, and pressurized hydrocarbon vessels.
Multiple pressure ratings. Available in 150, 220, or 300 PSI variants; select based on tank design pressure and applicable pressure vessel codes.
Flexible reading positions. Roof or ground-reading configurations; spherical and bullet tank kits available.
Reduced maintenance. Optional Negator Cassette to simplify maintenance and improve long-term reliability.
Digital integration ready. Connect the 2920 Float & Tape Transmitter to publish level and temperature via Modbus, GPU/BPM, Mark/Space, or L&J Tankway – feeding SCADA, FuelsManager®, or any open-protocol monitoring system.

Up to 0.2 in (4 mm) per API Chapter 3.1B when installed and calibrated to guidelines. This meets the inventory-grade accuracy standard required for API 2350 overfill prevention programs.
Typical variants are 150, 220, or 300 PSI. Select based on tank design pressure, applicable pressure vessel code (ASME, PED), and site standards.
The magnetic drive isolates the indicating mechanism from process pressure. This prevents vapor escape through the gauge mechanism and protects internal components from pressure-related damage – a critical safety feature on LPG and pressurized hydrocarbon storage.
Add the 2920 Float & Tape Transmitter. It mounts directly to the 2520 ATG and publishes level and temperature via Modbus, GPU Bi-Phase Mark, Mark/Space, or L&J Tankway – compatible with SCADA and FuelsManager.
Yes. Ground-reading kits locate the dial/counter at grade while the float and tape assembly remains at the tank roof – standard practice at LPG terminals where roof access is hazardous or restricted.
The 2520 Automatic Tank Gauge delivers continuous, inventory-grade level measurement on pressurized bulk liquid storage — LPG spheres and bullets, petrochemical process vessels, and industrial gas storage — where the power-free reliability and mechanical simplicity of float and tape gauging are required at pressure ratings up to 300 PSI. Its magnetic drive mechanism isolates the indicator assembly from process pressure, maintaining gauge integrity and measurement continuity without electrical power at the vessel.
When paired with the 2920 Float & Tape Transmitter, the 2520 publishes level and temperature data to SCADA platforms, RTUs, and FuelsManager via open protocols, connecting pressurized storage to the same inventory management and compliance reporting infrastructure as the rest of the terminal. For atmospheric and low-pressure tanks in the same facility, the 2500 ATG provides the same float and tape approach without the pressure-rated housing.
Contact Cognesense to select the appropriate pressure rating, measuring range, and mounting configuration for your LPG spheres, bullets, or pressurized vessels. Our specialists can also help you pair the 2520 ATG with the MCG 2000Max Float & Tape Transmitter to add digital level and temperature data to your existing SCADA or inventory management system – without sacrificing the powerfree reliability of mechanical gauging.
