For biogas plant operators, landfill gas engineers, and vapor recovery maintenance teams, the Shand & Jurs 97101 High-Pressure Manual Drip Trap removes accumulated condensate from pressurized gas piping without depressurizing the line, protecting downstream flame arresters, control valves, and metering from liquid carryover and corrosion.
Unlike low-pressure manual drip traps rated only to 25 PSIG or float-operated devices that are not permitted in regulated biogas service, the 97101 uses a heavy-duty isolation valve and sealed drain chamber rated for 100 PSIG working pressure, allowing controlled manual drainage on pressurized digester gas, landfill gas, and vapor recovery headers.
Condensate collects in a 4- or 6-quart reservoir with threaded connections, carbon steel or stainless steel construction, and a positive shutoff isolation valve that maintains line containment throughout the drainage cycle. Optional lockable handles, insulation jackets, and drain adapters support controlled, procedure-based operation.
The manual high-pressure design is applied at attended facilities where operators perform scheduled draining, providing safe condensate removal on pressurized piping without power, controls integration, or hazardous piping disassembly.
Allows drainage without depressurizing process piping, maintaining containment on pressurized biogas, landfill gas, and vapor recovery headers.
Operator-controlled discharge fits scheduled maintenance procedures on attended sites where manual drainage is the established practice.
Carbon steel or stainless construction delivers long service life in wet, acidic, and saturated biogas and digester gas streams.
Collects condensate before it can migrate downstream, protecting flame arresters, burners, and flow-measurement equipment from liquid carryover.
Field-serviceable components simplify routine inspection and parts replacement, reducing time required to restore the trap to operation.
Installs easily at piping low points and drip legs, fitting existing threaded connections without additional adapters or piping rework.

Select the 97101 whenever the piping operates above the 25 PSIG envelope of the 97100. The 97101 is rated for 100 PSIG service on pressurized biogas, digester gas, landfill gas, and vapor recovery headers. Below 25 PSIG, the 97100 Manual Drip Trap is the right low-pressure device.
Yes. The 97101 uses a heavy-duty isolation valve and sealed drain chamber rated for the full 100 PSIG working pressure, so manual drainage is performed on the pressurized line without taking the system offline. The isolation valve maintains positive containment during the drainage cycle, so gas does not escape and air does not enter.
Standard construction is carbon steel; stainless steel is available as an option for corrosive gas streams and saturated service. Additional options include lockable valve handles, drain adapters for piping the discharge to a sump, and insulation jackets for cold-weather installations.
Float-operated drip traps are not permitted in regulated biogas service under the 10 States Standard. Where manual drainage is not practical, the 97101E High-Pressure Electric Drip Trap provides an electrically actuated alternative rated for the same 100 PSIG service and designed for unattended or SCADA-integrated operation.
The 97101 is designed for vertical mounting at piping low points and drip legs. Threaded connections allow direct installation without flanges or adapters, and the compact footprint fits retrofit drip legs on existing headers. Discharge should be routed to a safe sump, sump drain, or approved liquid capture vessel per site procedure.
An optional insulation jacket is available for cold-weather service. Where ambient conditions would freeze accumulated condensate and block drainage, specify the jacket and maintain a heat source under it to preserve drainage reliability.
The 97101 prevents liquid carryover into flame arresters, control valves, meters, and burner trains downstream of its installation point. Removing condensate at high points also reduces corrosion, extends valve trim life, and stabilizes gas flow and combustion performance.
With over a century of tank-safety heritage, Cognesense delivers the Shand & Jurs 97101 High-Pressure Manual Drip Trap for attended biogas, landfill gas, and vapor recovery facilities that need to drain condensate on pressurized piping without taking the line out of service. Its heavy-duty isolation valve, sealed 100 PSIG chamber, and field-serviceable internals protect downstream flame arresters, valves, and burners from liquid carryover and corrosion. For scheduled manual drainage on pressurized gas systems, the 97101 is trusted wherever you need to measure, monitor, and protect what matters most.
