For tank-farm maintenance engineers, facility specifiers, and inspection planners, the Shand & Jurs 94210 combines emergency pressure relief and rapid tank access in a single hinged assembly for atmospheric and low-pressure storage tanks.

Unlike conventional bolt-on emergency vents that remain open after actuation and require manual reinstallation — and unlike separate manway covers whose gaskets must be replaced at every inspection — the hinged 94210 opens in seconds for tank entry and reseats automatically after an overpressure event.

A flexible diaphragm seals the pallet against a corrosion-resistant seat below setpoint. When pressure rises above setpoint, flow capacity rises rapidly — roughly 60 percent of a perfect orifice at 40 percent overpressure and around 75 percent at higher excursions — without losing the cover.

How is the 94210 different from a conventional emergency vent?

Conventional emergency vents are bolted lift-off covers. When the cover lifts during an overpressure event it remains open, and a technician must reinstall and re-gasket the cover to restore tank protection. The 94210 uses a hinged cover that reseats automatically after the event — no reinstallation labor, no lost cover, and no flange gasket replacement on every service cycle.

Does the 94210 serve fire-case emergency venting?

Yes. The 94210 supports fire-case emergency venting sizing, reaching roughly 60% of perfect-orifice flow at 40% overpressure and about 75% at higher overpressure. For applications requiring the highest fire-case capacity, the 9420X lift-cover series is the companion product.

Is the 94210 also a manway?

Yes. That is the point of the integrated design — a single roof penetration serves both emergency venting and inspection access. The hinged cover exposes the full opening in seconds, without breaking the flange gasket, so inspection outages are shorter and gasket-replacement cost is eliminated.

When should Expanda-Seal be specified?

Expanda-Seal is a self-energizing diaphragm seal that holds leakage under 0.5 SCFH at 95% of setpoint, compared with roughly 1.0 SCFH at 90% on a standard pallet. It is available on configurations with a setpoint of 1.5 oz/in² or higher, and is recommended on VOC-regulated tanks and on high-value product storage where emissions and product retention matter.

What size and mounting options are available?

The 94210 is available 8″ through 36″ with ANSI Class 150 FF/RF flange drilling. API 650 mounting is available in 20″ and 24″ sizes for direct tank-roof manway installation. EN1092 sizes are offered for metric compatibility. 30″ and 36″ configurations and higher setpoints should be confirmed with the factory.

Is remote indication available?

Yes. A limit switch is offered as an option to provide remote indication when the cover is open, supporting DCS integration and alarm handling on monitored tanks.
